Private art history tours in Florence

Imagine a cultural tour of Florence or Tuscany designed just for you. If you would like a tour themed around certain artists or periods, then tell us what interests you, and we’ll create an itinerary designed around those interests, over a single day or several days. It could be just in Florence, or spread over various locations in Tuscany: if required, we can provide private chauffeur-driven transport. These tours are unique personal experiences.

As a professional art historian working for museums and art galleries since 1985, Chris Dobson has been running private art and history tours in Florence and Tuscany for nearly 15 years. Chris combines his practical skills as a working artist with his scholarly research in the city’s museums and archives to give a unique insight into how the masterpieces of Florence were actually created, as he brings to life the fascinating world of the artists and their patrons. These friendly and relaxed tours are designed to make art and history accessible to everyone. Whether your interest is general, specific, or for academic studies, these tours are tailored for your particular requirements. They are for small groups of a maximum of 10 people. We also offer unique Corporate Hosting packages.

Each tour is tailored to your personal requirements, so prices of each itinerary will vary. Generally speaking though, within Florence a single-day tour would cost from around £895, plus museum entrance fees and any transport. We are happy to provide you with a detailed costing for your itinerary: if you would like to discuss your requirements for custom private tours, then please get in touch via the Contact page.
